Consortium of Mongolian Universities and Colleges (CMUC)

Prof. Dr. Badarch Dendev is one of the founders of CMUC.

Under his leadership, CMUC is providing excellent service

to  the higher education sector in terms of reform, coordination

and consolidation activities.

Founded in 1995, the Consortium of Mongolian Universities and Colleges (CMUC) is an excellent channel of cooperation among universities and colleges in Mongolia. This is a non-profit, consortium of leading universities and colleges organized to stimulate innovation and creativity in all areas of higher education development. With the support and active involvement of its members in various kind of activities, the Consortium has been making a difference in higher education since its establishment. CMUC is also providing reliable services to education institutions with the support of international partners. The experience over several years has shown the advantages of cooperation among universities and colleges. Moreover, CMUC serves as a catalyst for universities and colleges throughout Mongolia. CMUC sponsors conferences, conducts research and surveys, and publishes newspapers, and reports, on topics of interest to community, university and college leaders.

Currently CMUC is focusing on several major initiatives including higher education administrative, teaching and research staff development, research activities and international cooperation.

I would like to acknowledge my sincere gratitude to all members of CMUC, foreign and local counterparts for their fruitful and comprehensive support to our activities. At the same time, I encourage other public and business institutions, NGOs, and foundations to collaborate with us.

We shall try to do all we can to ensure that CMUC becomes a trustworthy partner.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Consortium of Mongolian Universities and Colleges (CMUC) is to strengthen higher education through cooperation and the development of intellectual capacity and technology capabilities of universities and colleges in Mongolia as well as raising their achievements to international standards.

 
Objectives

The objectives of the Consortium Mongolian Universities and Colleges are:

·        To coordinate and to become a leader in the reform of higher education;

·        To support and coordinate international cooperation;

·        To organize joint seminars, workshops and meetings on university management, planning and training as well as to enhance academic programs and training curricula;

·        To represent the common interests of public and private universities and colleges;

·        To provide consulting services for international projects, programs and research activities;

·        To provide new Information Technology services;

·        To organize student support services, overseas study programs and international student services;

·        To support scientific cooperation between the academic community and industry;

·        To promote international scientific cooperation;

·        To collect information on higher education.

Activities

The Consortium of Mongolian Universities and Colleges (CMUC) provides support and services for its members through publications, conferences, consulting, and networking; it offers services and resources to others interested in higher education development; and it fulfills an advocacy role, in Mongolia, seeking to inform higher education's leaders of the value of higher education. These activities are:

  ·        Organization of biennial conferences of higher education reform;

·        Publishing of monthly issues of TAVAN UKHAAN (“Five Knowledge”) newspaper;

·        Arrangements of regular meetings and conferences on academic reform;

·        Organization of entrance exams for prospective students;

·        Organization of a basketball league among Mongolian colleges;

·        Involvement of students and academic staff in international projects and programs.
